Stairs With Storage, Built for the Left End

If your bedroom layout calls for the climb to start on the left, this is the Sami step bunk to look at. Instead of a ladder, a staircase of four drawers rises at the left end of the bed (as you face its open side in our photos), so every step to the top bunk doubles as a place to keep clothes, toys or extra bedding. Order it as twin over twin, or add the extension kit for a twin over full with a wider lower bed that reaches out past the frame. Colors are gray, espresso (listed as Dark Brown) and white, all with the beadboard-style grooves found across the Sami collection.

Dimensions

Step bunk frame (both sizes), as listed in the Elements feed:

• Assembled: 101" W x 42" D x 63" H
• Floor to top of lower slats: 12"

Extension kit (twin over full only):

• 76" W x 15" D x 16" H

For twin over full, the extension kit widens the lower bunk to fit a full mattress, so the bed needs about 57" of depth (the 42" frame plus the 15" kit). Twin over twin stays at 42" deep.

Carton weights: headboard and footboard 86 lb, drawers 51 lb, guard rail and rail 46 lb, slats 27 lb, extension kit 26 lb.

Construction

The staircase is its own component with four drawers, paired with a left-hand headboard and footboard, a guard rail and rail for the upper bunk, and a slat set. The Elements feed lists origin as Malaysia. The feed does not list materials for the step bunk, so ask our team if you need that detail.

Assembly

Assembly is required. Twin over twin arrives in four cartons; twin over full arrives in five because the extension kit ships separately.

Care
