Barandillas de la cama
Bed rails are the side support bars that connect a headboard to a footboard and hold the mattress platform or box spring. If you're replacing an existing bed rail set or building a bed from separate headboard and footboard pieces, sizing matters: the rail must match both the bed size (twin, full, queen, king, California king) and the attachment hooks on your specific headboard and footboard.
Most bed rails use hook-on brackets that attach to slots in the headboard and footboard legs -- no tools required. Center support rails or legs may be included for queen and king sizes to prevent mattress sag over time. Check the rail length against your mattress dimension: a queen mattress is 60 by 80 inches, so the side rails should span at least 80 inches (plus attachment bracket depth on each end).
Metal bed rails are the most common style -- powder-coated steel or wrought iron finish to match most traditional and transitional bed frames. Wood rails are less common but available for certain traditional bedroom sets where a matched finish is required.
