A loft bed raises the sleeping surface off the floor and puts usable space underneath -- a desk, a dresser, a play area, or extra floor space in a small bedroom. They are most common in kids and teen bedrooms but work in any small room where maximizing floor space matters. Key dimensions: clearance from the top of the mattress to the ceiling should be at least 30 to 36 inches for comfortable sitting up in bed; standard loft beds raise the mattress platform to roughly 60 to 70 inches from the floor. We carry loft beds with built-in desk, storage stairs, and guardrail options.
