A poster bed has tall, vertical posts at each corner -- typically running from the floor to a height above the headboard and footboard. Low-poster beds keep the posts below eye level and have a subtle presence in the room; high-poster beds make a significant visual statement and require ceiling height clearance. Most poster beds are 80 to 96 inches tall at the top of the posts; make sure the room height is at least 8 feet and ideally 9 feet for a high poster bed to feel proportional. Poster beds work best in larger master bedrooms where the scale matches the room. We carry poster beds in queen and king sizes.
