A sleeper ottoman unfolds into a small sleeping surface -- useful in studios, living rooms, and offices where occasional overnight guests need a place to sleep without a dedicated sofa or guest bed. Most sleeper ottomans open to a twin or small twin size; the sleeping surface is a foam pad rather than a full mattress, so they are better suited for occasional use than regular sleeping. As a daily ottoman, they function like a storage or cocktail ottoman. The pop-up or fold-out mechanism varies between models -- check that it is easy to operate and folds back cleanly.
