A wardrobe (also called an armoire when used for clothing) is a freestanding closet that works in bedrooms with limited built-in closet space. Standard wardrobes are 60 to 72 inches tall and 18 to 24 inches deep, with interior hanging rods for full-length garments or double-hanging for shirts and jackets. Many include interior shelving on one side for folded items. They work well in older homes where closets are small, in guest bedrooms, or in any room where additional organized clothing storage is needed. Check door swing clearance before placing -- double doors need enough room in front to open fully.
