How to choose the right size TV stand

The general rule: your TV stand should be at least as wide as your TV, and ideally 2–4 inches wider on each side. For a 65-inch TV, look for a console in the 60–70 inch range. For a 75-inch screen, 70–80 inches gives you a proportional look without the TV overhanging the sides.

Height matters too. Sitting eye level is roughly 24 inches off the floor for most people on a standard sofa — so the center of your screen should land around there, which usually means a stand between 18 and 26 inches tall.
