Floor Mirrors
A floor mirror -- also called a leaner mirror or full-length mirror -- leans against the wall and shows a complete head-to-toe reflection. They are most commonly used in bedrooms and dressing areas, but a large floor mirror in a living room or entryway also reflects light and makes the room feel larger. Standard floor mirrors run 60 to 72 inches tall and 20 to 30 inches wide; oversized versions can be 80 inches or taller. The frame finish should coordinate with other metal or wood tones in the room. Make sure the wall or floor can support the weight if the mirror is propped rather than wall-mounted.
A floor mirror is one of the most effective tools for making a room feel larger. Leaning against a wall, a full-length floor mirror doubles the apparent depth of the space behind it. In bedrooms, a floor mirror serves the practical function of full-length dressing while adding light and depth to the room.
We carry floor mirrors in wood and metal frames, in widths from 24 to 36 inches and heights from 60 to 80 inches. Finishes include black, gold, silver, walnut, and white. Most are designed to lean rather than be wall-mounted, though many can be anchored for safety.
Placement Tips
- Opposite a window: Placing a floor mirror across from a window reflects natural light and makes the room feel brighter and larger than it is
- Behind a sofa: Leaning a tall narrow mirror behind or beside a sofa adds depth to the space and fills vertical wall space without the commitment of hanging
- Bedroom corner: A floor mirror in the corner of a bedroom used at an angle reflects both the room and natural light and avoids the flat head-on reflection that can feel like a window into another room at night
- Safety anchoring: A leaned mirror is a tip hazard in homes with children or pets. Use a wall anchor kit (included with most of our floor mirrors) to secure it even if you want the leaned look
