A glider recliner adds a smooth gliding motion to the standard recliner -- the base slides forward and back in a fixed horizontal track rather than rocking in an arc. This makes them a popular choice for nurseries (they soothe without the aggressive motion of a rocker) and for people who prefer a more controlled movement. Power glider recliners add an electric reclining mechanism so you can control the back angle and footrest independently. They take up about the same floor space as a standard recliner -- make sure to account for the glide clearance when placing against a wall.
