Power Recliners
Power recliners use an electric motor to open and close with the press of a button -- no pushing back with your legs, no pulling a handle. That makes them a better choice than manual recliners for anyone with limited mobility, and more convenient for everyone else. Many models also include a power headrest and lumbar adjustment, USB charging ports, and a zero-gravity or infinite position option that lets the chair stop at any angle rather than just the fully reclined position. We carry power recliners in fabric and leather, in standard and wide sizes, from brands including England and Ashley.
A power recliner uses an electric motor to move the back and footrest simultaneously with the press of a button, rather than the manual lever or push-back mechanism of a traditional recliner. The result is smooth, effortless adjustment to any position from fully upright to fully reclined.
We carry power recliners in fabric and leather-match, in a range of sizes from petite (40-inch width) to oversized (46-inch width). Many include USB charging ports on the armrest, and some models include heat and massage functions. Available as individual chairs or as part of matching power reclining sofa sets.
Features Worth Looking For
- Infinite-position: Better power recliners stop at any point in their travel range, not just fully up or fully down. This lets you find the exact angle that's comfortable for reading, watching TV, or napping
- Wall clearance: Standard power recliners need 12 to 18 inches behind them. Zero-wall or wall-hugger power recliners need only 4 to 6 inches -- a significant advantage in smaller rooms
- USB ports: A useful practical feature. Most are USB-A; some newer models include USB-C
- Battery backup: Some models include a battery that lets you return the footrest to the upright position during a power outage -- useful if the fully-reclined position makes it hard to stand without power assist
- Lift function: Power lift recliners (sometimes called lift chairs) tilt the entire chair forward to assist standing. A different product category than standard power recliners -- see our lift chairs collection for those
